This qualification aims to provide learners with the knowledge and skills required to design and adapt programmes to meet the needs of older adults.
The learner must hold either a Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing, Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training, Level 3 Diploma in Exercise Referral, Level 3 Diploma in Teaching Yoga or a Level 3 Diploma in Instructing Pilates Matwork or equivalent.
The learner must complete:
• Unit 1: Physical activity and health considerations for the older adult (H/504/3555).
• Unit 2: Designing and adapting exercise programmes for the older adult (K/504/3556).
The purpose of this qualification is to provide learners with an understanding and awareness of mental health,
common mental health disorders and issues, help reduce stigma and discrimination and encourage people
to talk about mental health.
The Level 3 Award in Designing Exercise Programmes for Older Adults is an classroom based qualification with, aiming to develop understanding of exercise design for older adults and the considerations based on health and adapting exercises for their specific needs.
This qualification is designed to provide learners with the knowledge and skills required to deal with the performance of other staff, the well-being and safety of customers, as well as the day-to-day operation of a sport and recreation facility.
